Most dental check-ups examine the general wellbeing of your mouth and make sure any dental work you’ve had isn’t falling apart. You’re usually in and out pretty quickly after saying “ahh” a few times.
Now we’re not saying this doesn’t work, but that a check-up at Redmires offers so much more.
We carry out an extremely thorough 15-point healthy mouth check at each check-up for no extra cost, rating your oral health score throughout.
Our patients return due to our staff’s gentle and caring reputation. They will make sure you’re relaxed, assured and comfortable from start to finish.
How Do You Feel?
Your wellbeing is our top priority. That’s why we start by asking you six questions about your general oral health. For example: Do you have any concerns? Are you happy with progress since your last visit?
The Basics
Without you even noticing, we will examine your tongue, lips, cheeks, gums, skin, glands and jaw. We will also check for plaque and ensure your teeth are healthy and aren’t worn.
Disease
One extremely important check that we do is for signs of serious conditions such as oral cancer. If spotted early mouth cancer has a 90% survival rate. Read our blog on spotting the signs of oral cancer.
We will also make sure your jaw is properly aligned and inspect your gums for signs of gum disease to ensure they are as healthy as they can be.
Is everything as it should be?
If there’s any previous dental work you’ve been worried about, or maybe hadn’t thought about in years – we’ll ensure they carry on meeting their purpose (such as fillings, crowns and alignment).
If appropriate, we finish the check with dental x-rays to discover what the naked eye is unable to see. This means no stone (or bone) gets left unturned!
X-rays check in between teeth, under existing fillings and the bones supporting the roots of the teeth.
We’ll eventually give your check a score out of 100. Our friendly dentists will discuss any action that may be required at the end of your appointment but one things for sure, you’ll leave feeling supported and on track to a truly healthy, happy smile.
