On the 20th March each year, the World Dental Federation organises the World Oral Health Day to highlight the importance of oral health.
If you are familiar with Redmires Dental Care you will know that we are passionate about ensuring all of our patients are well equipped to maintain good standards of oral health. We don’t just want to provide solutions when you have toothache, we aim to ensure there’s a pain-free smile on your face throughout your life by promoting good oral health – helping to prevent problem happening in the first place.
World Oral Health Day is a great time to join with dentists and dental organisations across the world and remind you of this!
It’s a particularly timely reminder for everyone in the UK. Statistics were recently released stating that over 40,000 under-18s are having decayed teeth removed through the NHS each year.
Oral hygiene is clearly suffering in our country.
We want to be part of the solution, celebrating and promoting the benefits of good oral health here in Sheffield, the UK and across the world.
As it says on the World Oral Health Day website: “A healthy mouth allows you to speak, smile, smell, taste, touch, chew, swallow and convey a range of emotions with confidence and without pain, discomfort and disease. No matter what your age – 5, 25, 65 or 85 years – oral health is vital to your general health and well-being.”
The great news is that we can all start today!
2017’s campaign is to Live Mouth Smart by adopting good oral hygiene habits (such as visiting the dentist regularly and brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes) and avoiding risk factors (such as smoking, alcohol and sugar rich diets).
Many people forget how connected our oral health and our general physical health are. Taking care of your teeth and your mouth can lead to benefits throughout your body. Avoiding risk factors can have a positive impact on other health problems such as heart disease, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.
Take a positive step on World Oral Health Day by booking one of our thorough healthy mouth checks. We would love to discuss how we can support you in your quest to improve your oral hygiene and take positive steps towards a healthy life.
I totally trust the dentists’ abilities and recommendations – preventative and corrective care – not invasive. They provide excellent all - round care with special care for nervous patients – not too invasive."
